Description: In the fifth film of the series of six, we find Nick and Nora in Sycamore Springs, Nick's hometown, where they've gone to visit his parents. Nick and his father, a doctor who is disappointed in Nick's direction in life, have drifted apart, and Nora wants nothing more than to bring them together. Her desire is to solve a crime in the town so that Nick's father will come to appreciate their talents. You have to be careful what you wish for, because sometimes you get it; a local painter, Peter Berton, is murdered when he comes to talk with Nick, and the couple find themselves fully immersed in a bit of intrigue that is centered on some of Berton's paintings. In the end, of course, Nick's father comes to realize that his son does have a knack for what he does.
The true success of the films has more to do with the special chemistry between Nick & Nora than with the plots. They are a fun couple, snappily witty with one another, coming across quite often as star-struck lovers, rather than as a husband and wife team. Their sparkling repartee holds them together and drives the films, and they cleverly solve crimes with the help of Asta, their terrier. See them all!
