This is one of the earliest films ever made by Tim Burton. Glimpses of the film could be seen in A&E's Biography on Burton, but it's still remained almost imposible to find, along with "The Stalk of the Celery Monster". "Luau" is Burton's homage to the surf films of the early 60's, but with the "normal" Burton touches, i.e. aliens, decapitated heads, and even a musical number. Good stuff. It comes from a DVD made from a master VHS copy held by one of the people who worked on the film with Burton. Quality is not Criterion material, but it's a fun film, and great for Burton completists.
