american idol 8: surprise elimination, alexis grace is out

last night was country night of the eighth season of american idol. some stood to the challenge, like kris allen and anoop desai who gave great performances. some were really off last night, like adam lambert, scott macintyre and lil rounds.

in my previous post, i predicted that the bottom 3 will be megan joy corkrey, michael sarver and scott macintyre. among the three, i picked megan to go home tonight.

so to the results. the first three sent to safety are danny gokey, anoop desai and lil rounds. allison iraheta and michael sarver are made to stand. i think both of them did a good job last night, especially allison. i ranked her fourth among the eleven finalists. but sadly, both of them are in the bottom 3.

the next ones sent to safety are scott macintyre, megan corkrey, matt giraud and kris allen. only adam lambert and alexis grace are left. both of them are in my bottom 4 last night. no surprises here but they are both early favorites in the competition. adam was sent to safety. alexis is in the bottom 3.

so our bottom three tonight are allison iraheta, michael sarver and alexis grace. i only got michael correct among the three i predicted. so one was sent to safety, and the first one is allison.

so only michael sarver and alexis grace are left. so after tallying the 31 million votes casted last night, it's time to say goodbye to alexis grace. michael will be joining the tour this season.

alexis has her last chance tonight, singing for her life since the judges can save her. she sang "jolene" again, much more nervous than last night. after her song, the judges thought she was good but not good enough, alexis grace was eliminated.

american idol 8: first 3 finalist known, 2 other groups revealed

after a night of singing billboard top 100 chart topping songs, the first group of 12 semifinalist faced america's votes. the top male and female vote getters will automatically advance to the finals. among the remaining 10 finalists, the one with the highest votes will also advance. the 3 finalists for the first group are:

1. alexis grace
2. michael sarver
3. danny gokey


these are also my picks to advance (read my previous blog entry) and i am happy that i got all three correctly.

the two other groups were also revealed. group 2 is consists of the following semifinalists:

6. nick mitchell
7. megan corkrey
8. mishavonna henson
9. allison iraheta
10. jesse langseth
11. jasmine murray

from this group, i think the ones to watch out for are matt giraud, adam lambert and nick mitchell for the guys and for the girls, it would be allison iraheta and jasmine murray. but my darkhorses would be matt breizke and mishavonna henson.

this group is more exciting, especially for the guys for i think 5 of them is capable of getting to the finals. but of the guys i think scott macintyre has generated a great fan base due to his story and his exposure in the earlier rounds. among the girls, the ones to watch out for are ariana afsar and lil rounds, with the young girls that can pull out surprises.
