Andreas Hykade - Ring of Fire (2000)
Over the past decade, Andreas Hykade has emerged as one of Germany's most important contemporary animators. His major debut, We Lived in Grass (1995) is a superbly animated, frenzied fifteen-minute memoir of his childhood spent in the Bavarian countryside. The epic Ring of Fire (2000) is a Felliniesque neo-noir Western that focuses on a pair of cowboys visit to a sex bazaar. Both films have received a string of awards worldwide for their startling and uncompromising insights. In 1992, Andreas joined Stuttgart-based Studio Film Bilder, quickly building up an impressive list of commercial work and directing the internationally successful children's TV series, Tom.
Synopsis:
Innocence is lost and ultimately redeemed in director Andreas Hukade's tale of two cowboys who spend their afternoons seeking shelter from scorching daytime sun, and their nights drifting ever deeper into the debauchery of a lusty sexual bazaar.
