Kevin Smith has sent out the first image from his next movie Red State. The movie’s a horror movie of sorts, about Christian fundamentalists run amok in Middle America. The first image would, appropriately, appear to be taken inside the church. It’s actually a pretty artsy angle for Kevin Smith who, in the past, hasn’t exactly been known for his visual creativity behind the camera. The view seems to be that of the congregation piano player, looking out on the assembled scattering of worshipers.
Here’s the image tweeted by Kevin:
The fundamentalist preacher at the center of the film is based on famed extremist wacko Fred Phelps who most recently had his minions out and protesting Comic Con earlier this year. Red State stars John Goodman, Kyle Gallner, Stephen Root, Michael Angarano, Melissa Leo, Michael Parks, and Kevin Pollack.
