This is one of Haile Gerima's short films made while attending UCLA in the 1970s. The experimental short details a black college student that is extremely conscious of his blackness and class oppression. As the young man has memories of his upbringing under a white household he feels guilty of his privileged status. For while he is aware of his race oppression, he has been privileged, but his privilege has allowed him an education to be conscious of it. He eventually makes a journey, presumably back to his black roots.

It is a very intriguing and personal film for Gerima, who is Ethiopian born. As a young man Gerima never knew of the oppression of black people until he moved to the United States, taking courses at UCLA. There he became extremely conscious of his race and class oppression and his work details this. This film is typical of his approach to show the inner struggles of a relatively privileged man trying to find his roots and his identity. Also typical of his work is that his aesthetic is experimental, didactic, allegorical, surreal, and expressionistic
