Synopsis:
A Tree in Tanjung Malim is a fictional autobiography of the director's youth. In the film, a girl of 17 meets up with a man of 34. In a night, they eat a bit, sing a bit, talk a bit but nothing actually happens. The short-film won the Principal Prize at the 51st Oberhausen International Film Festival in Germany, a very prestigious film festival for short films where many directors showcase their first film. It also won the Best Foreign Short Film award at the Entre Veus Belford.
