From Stephen Holden's review: "Adapted from a novel by Yukio Mishima, "The School of Flesh" explores the relationship of a well-to-do Parisian woman in the fashion business who falls madly in love with a much younger, working-class boxer and bisexual hustler.
Her lover, Quentin (Vincent Martinez), whom she picks up in a gay bar after some heated eye contact, is a wiry, glowering young stud who resembles a tougher, surlier Joaquin Phoenix.
Their power struggle begins on their very first date, at an arcade where Quentin, who loves video games, becomes so absorbed he barely notices her. Dominique walks away in disappointment, then suddenly changes her mind and returns."
