Description: Horace and Sybilla Meade return home after their wedding. Sybilla is a very un-demanding wife and agrees to all of her husband's requests. Horace is a bit of an odd duck and very set in his ways. Meals must be served at specific times and Sybilla must never enter his study. She never gets upset or raises her voice and is always accommodating. Over time, Horace comes to distrust her, to the point where he even tries to kill her. He changes his attitude when she tells him of a plot in a murder mystery she is reading and realizes that he may be in trouble. Unfortunately for Horace, he realizes far too late just how much he really loves her.

Ida Lupino - Never Fear (1949)

http://i46.tinypic.com/34o1rbr.jpg

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5333/imdbimage.jpg

The Young Lovers is the more familiar title of a 1950 drama originally released as Never Fear. Sally Forrest plays a beautiful young dancer who is crippled with polio. Forrest's dance partner Keefe Brasselle wants to see her through her illness, but the embittered Forrest prefers to be alone. Only by allowing others to share her grief is Forrest able to pull herself together and go on with her life. Though The Young Lovers is listed as Ida Lupino's directorial debut, she'd previously helmed Not Wanted (49) (also starring Forrest and Brasselle) when official director Elmer Clifton fell ill. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Ida Lupino - Outrage (1950)

http://i30.tinypic.com/qycoyr.jpg

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5333/imdbimage.jpg

Plot Synopsis by Hal Erickson
In terms of content, Outrage was well-ahead of its time. Mala Powers, who'd previously starred opposite Jose Ferrer in Cyrano de Bergerac, plays Ann Walton, a naïve young girl who is attacked and raped while walking home from work. As if the horror and humiliation of the sexual assault wasn't enough, Ann must endure the scrutiny of her neighbors, some of whom are convinced that she "asked for it." Unable to stand any more, she runs away from her hometown and her fiancé Jim Owens (Robert Clarke), hoping to start life anew in another town. With the help of compassionate clergyman Ferguson (Tod Andrews), Ann slowly regains her faith in humanity, as well as her own self-esteem. Oddly, director Ida Lupino chooses to tackle her material with a complete lack of subtlety. The subject matter of Outrage deserves far more sensitive treatment than it received from the usually reliable Lupino.

Ida Lupino - The Trouble with Angels (1966)

http://i718.photobucket.com/albums/ww188/just_nobody_mko/t601677d.jpg

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5333/imdbimage.jpg

A summary from IMDB:

Orphaned Mary Clancy is sent by her wealthy Uncle George to St. Francis Academy, a Catholic girls boarding school and convent. He has sent her there to straighten her out as she is rebellious (among other things, she is a heavy smoker), and is always carrying out her dubious but "scathingly brilliant ideas". At St. Francis, she meets fellow student Rachel Devery, recently transferred from New Trends Progressive School. Rachel is a follower, Mary her leader. The two continually lead other students astray, especially Mary's cousin, her Uncle George's daughter, Marvel-Ann. They also butt heads with the school's equally strong willed Mother Superior. Mary and Rachel's antics bring them close to the verge of expulsion, but the Mother Superior feels she needs to be part of Mary's salvation as Mary's primary alternative, living with her womanizing Uncle George, is not even an option in the Mother Superior's view. Ultimately, Mary's inner curiosity and keen observances of life around her, supported unwittingly by the Mother Superior and the other Sisters, bring her to a turning point in her view of life at St. Francis, one at odds with her best friend.
