Giorgio Pastina - Il cardinale Lambertini AKA Cardinal Lambertini (1954)

http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/6553/cover01o.jpg

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5333/imdbimage.jpg

PLOT SYNOPSIS:
In 1739 in Bologna, Archbishop Prospero Lambertini protects the love of Charles and of Countess Isabella, with the opposition of the powerful, and after many vicissitudes he marries them. He goes to Rome and becomes Pope Benedict XIV.
It is the reduction of the famous comedy (1905) by A. Testoni, that B. Berenson defined worthy of Shakespeare's comedy.
Witty and effervescent text . Superb and accurate setting.
(Morandini)

Primo Zeglio - I Quattro inesorabili AKA The Relentless Four (1965)

http://preview.filesonic.com/img/7665.jpg

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5333/imdbimage.jpg

Plot Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Just before gaining TV immortality as Batman, Adam West starred in this brutal spaghetti western. West plays a Texas ranger who comes up against four bandits (Robert Hundar, Red Ross, Robert Camardiel, Ralph Baldwyn). When they can't buy him off or kill him off, the Relentless Four frame West on a murder rap. When justice comes, it is swift, decisive and bloody. Funny how Relentless Four didn't get much play in the US until after Batman took hold.

Vic Morrow - A Man Called Sledge (1970)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/Ttiberius/Sledge-P.jpg

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5333/imdbimage.jpg

Plot:
Luther Sledge (James Garner) is a highway robber; an old west outlaw with a price on his head. When he notices that someone on horseback has been following him for miles one hot afternoon, Sledge sets up an ambush for the would-be bounty hunter. It turns out his stalker was only the Old Man (John Marley), an ex-con trying to get a peek at a gold shipment. Curious, Sledge takes his new friend back to a local bar to talk about the gold a little more.
The Old Man explains that $300,000 in gold dust is being transported from the mines to a heavily guarded jail, where it is kept in a cell that has been modified into a giant safe. He knows, because the safe was next to his old cell. Sledge is intrigued, and with the rest of his gang, starts planning to heist the gold. When a convoy of 40 armed men on horseback and a machine gun discourage his plan to take it in transport, he decides the only way to steal the loot it is to get inside the jail. But nobody's sure exactly what Sledge has in mind, not even Ward (Dennis Weaver) or Hooker (Claude Akins), Sledge's most trusted men.

Corrado Farina - Baba Yaga AKA Kiss Me Kill Me (1973)

http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/65/vlcsnap7853402.png

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5333/imdbimage.jpg

Quote:
Strange things have been happening to Valentina, a young and beautiful professional photographer, ever since she made the acquaintance of Baba Yaga, a mysterious older woman who gave her a lift home late one night. For one thing, Valentina has been having weird, kinky nightmares. For another, one of Valentina's cameras seems to have acquired a deadly curse. And then there was that visit to Baba Yaga's house, where Valentina discovered bizarre relics, including a dominatrix doll, and a bottomless pit in the living room. Valentina comes to realize that Baba Yaga is a witch who is out to possess her - body and soul.

Apparently inspired by a comic book, "Baba Yaga" is an unusually compelling, surreal nightmare of movie that also is vibrant with the essence of the late 1960s. The story follows pretty young fashion photographer Valentina (Isabelle De Funes) who runs afoul of seductive sorceress Baba Yaga (Carroll Baker) who proceeds to meddle in her life via a tiny doll in an S&M getup. Baba is not one to take rejection lightly, and subjects Valentina to physical and psychological torments. Well-made, hard-to-pigeonhole film, director Corrado Farina succeeds in creating moody atmosphere and a warped logic in which anything can and will happen. Funes in particular does a superb job of convincing the audience of the vacuum that's engulfing her; a young George Eastman ("Anthropophagous") fares well in the role of her disbelieving commercial-director boyfriend. The direction, which intercuts comic-book imagery with hallucinogenic dream sequences (which all seem to possess a Nazi angle), is skillful and unpretentious.

Abel Ferrara - Napoli, Napoli, Napoli (2009)

http://i53.tinypic.com/24wrhvt.jpg

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5333/imdbimage.jpg

"cinando.com" wrote:
Napoli, Napoli, Napoli, Abel Ferrara’s new project, is not only a portrait of the city itself, but a deep sight into its humanity, vital and brutal, passionate and cruel at the same time. While interviewing a group of female convicts in Pozzuoli State Prison, Ferrara was deeply impressed by their statements, so harsh and fatalistic. He then decided to base on their life experiences three different screenplays, written by Peppe Lanzetta, Maurizio Braucci and Gaetano Di Vaio. Di Vaio’s episode is inspired by his actual experience as a convict; Braucci’s depicts a sad and brutal adolescence; Lanzetta’s a family melodrama of violence, expectations and vengeance. By interweaving reality and fiction, this innovative docu-drama is a complex and compelling mosaic; like the city of Naples, so fascinating and indecipherable at the same time.
