Description: Aurelia Steiner writes a love letter to an unknown recipient that seems to be plural or changing. It could be her father, a lover, or the spectator. The images taken on the Seine as night falls slowly have, again (like in the other Marguerite Duras short films), apparently nothing to do with the narration. This segmentation of the semiotic systems (sound/images) and the apparent primacy of the sound over the images is at the basis of Duras' cinematographic work.
