Marguerite Duras - Aurélia Steiner (Vancouver) (1979)
A young woman, Aurélia Steiner, writes to a plural and changing recipient: a lover, her dead parents, the spectator, her ancestors exterminated in the nazi camps. She writes about desire, death. The white rectangle of the screen becomes the rectangle of the courtyard of an extermination camp. Devoid of music, this film about the "untellable" alternates, among other things, between images of landscapes (the sky, the sea, trees) and the written text of the author. (Bernard Sarrut)
