Description: Toting guns and dressed in camouflage gear, an army of children play war games. The reality: war is not a game for over 300,000 children worldwide who are direct participants in armed conflicts. The film, created and produced by ART for The World is born under the auspices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and supported by the European Commission, French Government and SESC, Sao Paulo, Brazil, is a long feature composed by 22 short movies by filmmakers and artists from all over the world.

About the project "Stories on Human Rights":

Internationally recognised filmmakers, artists and writers, have joined forces to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, by contributing to a unique film project composed by twenty-two 3 minutes short-movies inspired by the six themes of the Universal Declaration: culture, development, dignity and justice, environment, gender and participation. Stories on Human Rights is an initiative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and produced by ART for The World, NGO based in Geneva and Milan.

Stories on Human Rights is the first large film project bounding together artists and film makers in a single project on cinema. Marina Abramovic - Aktionshose: Genital Panik [1969/2005] (2005)

Description: A report about the remake by Marina Abramovich of the performance "Aktionshose" originaly presented in 1969 by Valie Export.

"The action took place in 1969 in an art cinema in Munich, where filmmakers were showing their work.

With the crotch cut out of her pants, Export went through each row. Offering the film-viewing public visual contact with a real female body, Export confronted the pornographic reduction of women to static representations, thereby posing a direct, political challenge to the abstract objectification of the female body as a fetish.

She moved an aesthetic gesture beyond the representational context of the safe boundaries of art into an actual encounter with a public. In this action, Export realized the capacity of a gesture “both to produce and to represent action... by stressing the moment and the process of its own production.

“By revealing the actual physical site of her sex, Export repudiated the representational static sign and discharged an interventionist act.

Marina Abramović (Serbian Cyrillic: Марина Абрамовић; born 30 November 1946, in Belgrade, PR Serbia, FPR Yugoslavia) is a New York-based Serbian[1][2] and Yugoslavian[3][4][5] performance artist who began her career in the early 1970s. Active for over three decades, she has recently begun to describe herself as the “grandmother of performance art".

Abramović's work explores the relationship between performer and audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind.
